“Adhyatma” meaning spiritual or higher soul in Sanskrit, is a spiritual spa nestled in the seven sacred pools area of Sedona. Also known as spiritual mecca, Sedona draws a lot of people to its vortex sites. `Vortex sites are enhanced energy locations that facilitate spiritual healing by exploring your relationship with your soul and the divine. Spiritual healing is believed to be a process of cleansing your Mind, body and soul, clearing any blockages and restoring the balance of oneself.
Adhyatma offers a spiritual healing session using techniques like visualization, yoga, meditation, reiki, sound, and physical touch, which are used to release negativity from the body. The space includes a reception and visitors center, various yoga studios, Reiki and massage rooms, cuddle rooms, thermal baths and an interconnected sensory garden. Flawlessly integrating with nature, this holistic design focuses on spiritual wellness which can be defined as the state of harmony, in which all your inner energies are perfectly balanced. The space is designed to provide its users with a rejuvenating and perpetually productive experience, be it letting go of their negative energies or embracing positive energies.
Spread over an acre of land, Adhyatma is seeking a balance between architecture and the surrounding environment. The architecture aims to embrace the terrain and seamlessly fit into the environment. The beauty of the land and the surroundings have inspired the design and its color scheme. While promoting health and wellness, Adhyatma is also designed with sustainability in mind. Locally sourced environmentally friendly materials like recycled wood and glass are used. The orientation of the buildings is tailored to respond to the specific climatic conditions. Passive and active climate control strategies have been utilized to provide optimal thermal, acoustic, and lighting comfort. Natural vegetation is used as external shading to reduce the overall solar heat gain during summers while providing a barrier from the cold winds during winter. Solar cells have been incorporated in the design to generate renewable energy. Water features are designed in the sensory garden that collect the rainwater and reduce stormwater runoff.
The reception building not only serves as a check-in area for the guests but also houses a café and a visitors’ center. The visitors center offers the guests an in-depth knowledge of Sedona’s Vortex. The Large yoga and meditation studios provide a panoramic view of the majestic red rock and evergreen vegetation. The red-orange color of the rock is one of the most sensory stimulating of colors. It enhances creative thinking and problem solving. While the reiki rooms and the cuddle rooms provide privacy along with a clear view of the landscape and surroundings. The sensory garden not only helps in releasing negative emotions and thoughts by simulating the user’s senses, but it also acts as a connecting corridor for all the different spaces. The magnificent trails and overlooks around the site provide the guests with numerous open spaces for meditation and contemplation. The aim of this spiritual spa is to provide people with an escape from their hectic lives to find inner peace and healing while giving them perceptions for how to maintain an inner spiritual harmony once at home.
